Clic                                           TENDING THE CREATIVE FIRE

I was walking down a back street in Guatemala, when I noticed this woman in an out building beside a stone house. She looked back at me shyly when I raised my camera, but she nodded her “OK”. Kneeling on the floor, surrounded by her pots, she tended her fire. Time seemed to stand still for me as I watched her. In the quiet of the moment I felt closer to something primitive and beautiful, an act of creation that supported life. I stood there for a long time, absorbing the feeling. Now each time I look at this painting, I feel that stirring again, and I remember.
